Hello! I’m Cera Rose Pickering – the CEO and founder of The Screenwriters’ Slate UK. I’ve been working in the industry for nearly twenty years and have taken on a mad variety of roles; from production assistant, tea-maker, and chief biscuit-fetcher all the way up to screenwriter, creator, and producer. The industry has thrown all of its highs, lows, and surprises at me, along with some very valuable lessons, so hopefully that qualifies me to helm this exciting new venture! As a screenwriter, I love crafting comedy, adventure, and romance stories, and adore a coming-of-age tale that jumps off the page. I’m also a sucker for a love story and will watch anything that includes time travel, a touch of horror, or a bunch of misfits heading out on an epic adventure. When I’m not writing, I can normally be found hunting down exquisite icecream, eating fabulous food with fabulous friends, or performing in musicals on stage (my first love). I’m immensely privileged to be represented by my fabulous agent Christina Pickworth at Imagine Talent and also have the honour of being a member of BAFTA Connect.

Who can see my profile?
Only registered members can see your profile. Your information is not publicly accessible.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, memberships can be canceled at any time. There are no long-term commitments required.
Will I get a job immediately?
Building a career takes time, but this platform increases your visibility and chances of connecting with industry professionals.
How do I get the most out of my membership?
Complete your profile, participate in workshops, engage with the community, and regularly update your portfolio with new work.
What happens if I want to cancel my membership?
If you don't want to continue onto a paid subscription after your free trial has ended then you can cancel your membership via the account settings button on your profile page – although we'll be sad to see you go! If you have paid for an annual subscription and want to cancel your membership before the year is out, your profile will remain live until your subscription ends or you delete your account. If your subscription ends and you do not pay your membership fee, your account will be deactivated and will not be visible to other users. We will store all deactivated accounts in our system unless a user requests for their account to be fully deleted. Deactivated accounts can be reinstated by paying a new subscription fee. Please note that subscription fees cannot be refunded once they have been paid for.
How does the platform connect screenwriters to the industry?
Once signed up, members will be able to create an online profile which will showcase their skills, knowledge, education, life experience, location, background, previously produced work, and any upcoming projects that they wish to promote. This information will then become part of The Screenwriters’ Slate’s database. Industry employers (who are also signed up to the platform) will then be able to use the database to find screenwriters with specific skills and knowledge to staff their upcoming projects. For example, if a development exec from the BBC needs a black, female writer from Scotland who writes romcoms and also knows about karate, they can enter these criteria into our search engine and it will provide them with a list of relevant writers. The exec can then contact the writers through our messaging system and start a conversation – something that will hopefully lead to employment!
What if I don’t want to receive messages from other members?
That’s more than fine! All members (both writers and industry) have the option to turn the messaging feature on and off as they wish via their profile settings.
Is this platform only for produced/experienced screenwriters who already have agents?
Nope! The Screenwriters’ Slate UK is an inclusive platform which welcomes members at any stage of their career – from beginners and hobbyists, to students and graduates, all the way through to seasoned professionals who have made multiple movies and TV shows. Anyone with a passion for screenwriting is welcome to join and connect.
Will my profile be on display to the world?
Only fully signed-up Screenwriters’ Slate members will be able to view your profile. We will display your profile picture, skills, knowledge, education, location (as a county), your previously produced work, and any upcoming projects. Sensitive information such as life experience, religion, sexuality, ethnicity, and cultural background will not be displayed on your profile but will still be included as searchable information in the database, as industry employers are always looking for screenwriters who can write from authentic viewpoints. There is also no obligation to share sensitive information with us, so please only share what you are comfortable talking and writing about. Your contact details will not be displayed.
